Parents get lumped into groups by everyone nowadays. We are judged by what we feed our kids, when they go to bed, if you teach them to follow a religion, and even if we do our hair and makeup everyday or live in yoga pants with a top knot. I don't feel I can be categorized as a specific type of mom. So I will give a short breakdown of me and you can decide if this blog will be for you or not.
*I am not a fitness guru and am only skinny because I chase toddlers and rarely take time to eat.
*I try to dress nice and always do my hair and makeup before I leave the house - because it makes me feel like a woman who can still be sexy and that I truly am a separate person from my kids.
*I vaccinate - just do it. lets not argue.
*I watch all the superhero movies and love every show on the syfy channel. Basically I'm a nerd.
* I am very pro science. I don't try homeopathic medicines or live in paranoia from GMO's until there is hard scientific evidence to back up claims that they are good or bad. Basically I avoid lifestyle changes based on unproven theories.
*I don't believe in God. My morals do not come from any religion or book. I have morals because I love humans and was taught to have compassion and empathy from my kind mother. I have no intentions to introduce a religion into my children's lives.
My beautiful family will be embarking on a adventure at the end of October. We are driving across the country and ending at our new home in Brooklyn NY. Once there I will document the joys and struggles. I imagine there will be much stress and loneliness as winter sets in, but hopefully we can explore the city, make friends, and find a great community to belong to.
I am an open book and will respond to questions posted and would love to receive tips of your favorite spots in the city.
