Do you follow a Instagram Super Mom? Her pictures are whitewashed and perfectly styled. She wears heels pushing a stroller with a bouquet of fresh flowers in her had. She has the most stylish diaper bag and her kids are always perfectly dressed and clean. And those vacations.... It's only March and Her family has been to Hawaii, Disney-world, and Paris. Her house could be featured in Dwell magazine and each room straight out of a Potter Barn Catalog. Always clean, always baking, and most importantly...... IT'S ALWAYS STAGED.
Don't be fooled fellow mamas. She took those clean pictures while her kids were sleeping. She moved everything to one side of the room to redecorate that perfect reading corner. She purchased those flowers for herself and has a pair of sneaker in that cute backpack ready to put on. Her husband takes a zillion photos to get that one shot that looks effortless. SHE IS A BRAND. Her brand is to sell this idea of an easy breezy prefect motherhood.
It's not really a trick. Don't get angry at them. You would't yell at a movie director because the movie seemed unbelievable. Instead think of these Social Media accounts as ads in a magazine.
Unless you are selling merchandise or lifestyle brand
please try to have an un-edited Social Media presence.
Do I sound judgy? I am not trying to be. If you prefer to use a whitewash filter and to only share photos that are perfectly staged, that's fine. You do you. But are you doing it because you are trying to be a business, a brand, or an influencer? Or are you trying to hide the truth from your followers?
